In our mushroom era.

We can confirm that we are in our mushroom era.

After integrating cannabis this deeply into our lifestyles, it only seems natural. I, myself, have

had many beautiful and significant mushroom trips that led me further to the incorporation of the medicine in my daily life.

Mushrooms offer us a lens on life that cannabis sometimes can not. What I would describe as

a complete connection to mother Earth— a sense of appreciation, wonder, enchantment,

positivity and emotional direction— this plant is a God-given medicine meant for us to explore with. Much like cannabis, the various strains that are available will each provide very different effects. Some will feel better than others, some will invoke negative emotions, some will force you to face things, but in my philosophy— the mushrooms will always give you what you need.

My journey into microdosing has been a self-guided experiment. As mentioned, after a handful of more significant trips, lighter trips and experiences socializing with mushrooms in place of alcohol, I decided I knew the medicine well enough to incorporate it into my daily life. And boy— has it changed the game.

Microdosing has offered me the following: increased energy and motivation, stronger

awareness, quicker reaction time, elevated mood and appreciation, more patience and

empathy, more introspection and a stronger ability to focus/ be productive overall. Obviously I am biased per my own positive-reactions, but I truly think everyone could benefit from implementing it into their lives. You could say it feels like a natural adderall or antidepressant.

Now what constitutes something as a “microdose”? Any level of psilocybin ranging from

5mg-250mg, even sometimes up to 300mg, although the effects will vary drastically user to

user and are also dependent on strength and type of the mushroom. Someone with zero

experience might want to start out with anything between 5-50mg, while someone who is

familiar with altering consciousness (with any plant medicine) could comfortably introduce

50mg-200mg. Like anything, you can always take more but your can’t take less, so starting out low and slow is the best approach. For reference, anything between 1 gram- 3 grams will be enough to experience a light trip, while anything upwards of 3.5 grams- 7 grams will be a pretty significant trip/ potential for hallucinations, and 7 grams-up is considered a macrodose.

Personally, I’ve found success with the daily dose of anywhere from 75mg-250mg. 75mg hits

when I haven’t been regular with my protocol, if taken on an empty stomach, or if I haven’t

been eating mushroom chocolate socially (generally 500mg a square). Higher doses are

needed for me when my psylocibin tolerance is up. Much like a weed or alcohol tolerance, thesame rule applies!

Choosing a microdose protocol and sticking to it is ideal and recommended so you begin

integrating the medicine into daily life. An example of this is: 1 day on, 1 day off, 2 days on, 2

days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, and so on and so forth- customizable as needed. The purpose

of this is that you training the brain to rewire pathways and make neural connections on the

days you don’t take the medicine. The off days give our brains a chance to begin working

harder for us- having become familiar and comfortable with the introduction of the psylocibin, they work to replicate it’s effects when not present.

So who is a good candidate for microdosing? As I mentioned, everyone, haha. But to be more exact— for those that may fall into the following categories: anyone interested in tapering off antidepressants/ stimulants, anyone who’s had positive experiences with psychedelics & is interested in integrating them into daily life, those who may be healing/ recovering from something emotionally or physically, any daily cannabis users who are interested in experiencing a more advanced level of consciousness, and anyone who’s looking to boost mood/cognition naturally. Dosing is also really great for the emotional and physical connection to self. If you struggle to stay present, tune into your own thoughts/ emotions or feelings in your body, it’s great for that too. Personally, the effect I notice the most when dosing is my connection with others. I am naturally extroverted and love being social, but when I microdose I notice that I am even more open, receptive, talkative and quick. Small tasks seem less boring, large tasks feel less daunting, and I’m more in sync with the magic of the universe in general.

I can’t sing it’s praises enough. The mushroom is a master healer- the functional and the

medicinal. A fantastic fungus that fuels our optimization in many categories. Many of us are

blessed to have access to the medicinal form, and it’s going to be a wild ride as we see

decriminalization begin to happen in more counties and states nationwide. I have one hope for that expansion when it comes— and it is to hold the healing spirit of the medicine and integrity for the plant at the top level of importance as many more adopt it into their lives.
